Developed by Tim Fisher specifically for painting with pastels. The paper has no surface pattern, which can otherwise show through, on your painting, and it will take layer after layer of pastel. Suitable for both fine, detailed work and also for more impressionistic painting. It is also very good for mixed media. His revolutionary surface has proved popular with both professional and amateur painters.
Paper coated with a fine abrasive grit, for pastel work. Only available in buff color, but can be tinted with inks, acrylics or watercolors.
Bainbridge Acid-Free Foam Board features acid and lignin free paper liners and has micro-chamber technology designed to absorb and neutralize harmful gasses to protect art work from impurities. Toothier surface paper provides a stronger grip for adhesive. Light weight and rigid with firm memory core.
PROMOUNT Dry Mount Tissue is a premium grade tissue, formulated with a breathable paper base, coated on both sides with a permanent adhesive that bonds as it heats. Neutral pH and excellent bonding characteristics, combined with its breathe-ability make PROMOUNT the most versatile option, particularly suited to matboard and foam board.

Finally, a really good sanded paper mounted on foam board. The texture feels gritty but somehow smooth at the same time and while it may not feel as if it will take many layers of pastel I can vouch for the fact that it does. I did my underpainting in hard pastel and went over it with alcohol. It dried perfectly and then took many layers of soft pastel. This is great to take out for plein air painting in general and for entering plein air contests which need framing on the spot.
